For the Towns of Washington, Warren and Kent

Sample ballot for Warren

Rules and procedures for July 31 voting (and absentee ballots)

Who can vote?

You don’t have to be registered to vote in your town in order to vote.

You can vote if (1) you are registered to vote in your town OR (2) you pay property or automobile tax in that town.

Properties owned or taxes paid by LLCs or held in trust cannot vote.

Absentee Ballots

  • You must appear in person and can only get an absentee ballot for yourself.

  • The clerk will check the voter registration list and/or the tax list to see if you are eligible to vote.

  • You’ll be given a form to request an absentee ballot (check appropriate box for why you can’t vote in person on July 31).

  • You can fill out the form right there and give it back to the clerk.

  • The clerk will then give you a ballot, which you can fill out there and give back to the clerk.

It may sound complicated, but it’s quick and easy!
